We recently added a useful feature to the Manage Vehicles section that allows you to manually ping/update a device’s location to get an up-to-the-second status.
Depending on the refresh rate your devices are set on (2 minutes, 5 minutes, 1 ping per day, etc.), the manual ping will give you the exact location of the vehicle or asset instead of you waiting for the default refresh rate (2 minutes, 5 minutes, 1 ping per day, etc.) to update.
Here’s how it works:
Click on Account, then Manage Vehicles, then Open:
Identify the vehicle or asset in question that you need the status updated on:
Click on the “Ping/Update” icon:
Not the confirmation drop-down menu and click Continue:
Refresh the page. Now you can see that the vehicle (Scion 4000) went from its last update of 27 hours ago to 13 seconds ago (if I would have refreshed the page faster it would have been 1 or 2 seconds ago):
We hope this new feature comes in handy when you need to know the real-time location of any of your vehicles or assets.
*This feature is NOT turned on by default, but can be turned on by contacting us. If you find yourself using this feature often, you may also need to contact us to change your update/ping rate.
Bear in mind that this feature ONLY works for our GPSI-3900 and GPSI-4000 series devices, as well as SOME cellular-based asset trackers.
