People tend to look at you a little ‘funny’ if you tell them you track yourself, but in addition to obvious personal safety/theft issues like Alissa found a use for, there are some great self-tracking business advantages … even for independent sales or service folk.
1. Tracking personal versus business mileage with cumbersome paper logbooks
2. Finding your way back to that new prospect that you only visited once before.
3. Looking at the ‘pattern’ of your driving over weeks or months to see where you might need to ‘refocus’.
4. Proving to a frustrated client or angry boss that you were, indeed, where you were when you said you were.
5. Intimately knowing and believing in what you sell … no training class can equal the experience and sincerity you project when you “eat your own dog food.
