Dave,

You remind me of a very early client whose owner called me on a Saturday morning. His drivers drove on Saturdays and the owner's wife was literally pulled up next to one of his 280 trucks at a stoplight. She heard the driver talking over the radio to another driver about the boss, using a few colorful terms. He called me up to see who was at that intersection at that time, so he could call him in on Monday & have a more direct talk... We had that info very handy for him. This was years ago, but still makes me laugh.

You don't want to jump to conclusions, Rob .. maybe that's a three phase electric couch ;-)

When I was selling in the past I tried to get in to see a builder with a fleet of pickups but he was always too busy. I left a Thank You note with his office manager one day and moved on to other more reachable prospects.

The very next Monday I got a call from the office manager asking to set up an appointment and demo. My expertly crafted, personal, persuasive, personal note? Probably.

Or maybe it was the fact that while shopping with his wife on Sunday the builder was passed by one of his own trucks, towing a camper trailer and a boat in tandem (legal in Colorado but a scary operation IMO) at 75 per on the Interstate.

Talk about equipment 'selling itself' ... wish all sales had been that easy.
